About the Event
Come sit by the fire with us at the Blue Heron Farm Homestead, as we continue our Hearthside Event Series! You will spend a few cozy hours crafting, sipping local wine, enjoying a farm-raised lunch, chatting with other crafters, and joining us on a farm tour and talk. This crafting event requires no experience, as all instruction will be provided.
We will start off with a lunch of traditional Irish grassfed lamb stew as well as other featured products that have been humanely and ecologically grown on the farm, created by a local and internationally acclaimed master chef, and accompanied by a tasting of several local *wines from Bluemont Vineyard and unlimited coffee and/or tea.
Following lunch, Farmer Jen will lead a tour of the farm where you will meet and learn about the Clun Forest Sheep, a rare and threatened breed that represents the wool that will be used for this craft. Did you know that wool has antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties? What better way to use it then, than to create your very own all natural Wild and Wooly Scrubbers!
After the farm tour will be one-hour of crafting instruction lead by Pam Hummel, of Needles and Pins Fiber Art. You will be walked through the process of using wool roving to craft two felted goat’s milk soap bars and one felted coaster. There will be a few options of roving colors and wool for you to choose from, from Solitude Wool. The soap is locally made by Georges Mill Farm. All materials are included in the price.
In conclusion, we invite you to enjoy some time to chat by the fireside.
